Children running in a field

Children returnedto their roots.Back to Serbia.

Many Serbian families grow up far from home, and children often know Serbia only through stories. The Mileva Project gives them a chance to truly know it - with heart, sight, and embrace.

In every Serbian home there is a story, about grandmother's yard, about grandfather's plum tree, about summers that smell of childhood. Children in the diaspora mostly hear those stories over the phone.

We turn those stories into reality.

The Mileva Project buys plane tickets for children from the diaspora so that they can visit Serbia at least once – to touch the land of their ancestors, to hug family they only know through a screen, to experience what cannot be told, but only felt.

Every child deserves a chance to discover their origin.

The process is simple and completely transparent. Applications open once a year, children are selected randomly, and everyone has an equal chance to step into Serbia — with no favoritism and no complications.

How the process works

Because roots are sacred.

Identity isn't memorized — it's felt. Some pass it on through language, some through songs, some through stories. But nothing can replace the moment when a child first sets foot on Serbian soil and thinks: "This is a part of me."
